Per-yard and per-ton prices are kept apart because converting between them needs the product’s weight per yard. To turn a per-ton price into a per-yard price, multiply by the pounds per cubic yard and divide by 2,000: at 2,700 lb per yard, $42.75 per ton is $57.71 per yard. Gravel delivery cost
Delivery terms vary more than the material prices. Main’s Landscape Supply charges flat fees by zone, from $69.99 locally to $199.99 in its farthest zone, with a 3-yard minimum near the yard. Down To Earth Materials charges $10 per mile. Mulch Pros charges $7 per road mile ($60 minimum) for loads up to 5 tons and $12 per mile ($100 minimum) above that. R.J. Grondin & Sons charges $100 to deliver 1–3 yards within 10 miles in 2026. AZ Rock Express prices delivery by zone and tonnage, with larger loads cheaper per trip. Per ton or per yard?
A cubic yard of gravel usually weighs more than a US ton, so the per-yard price of a product is normally higher than its per-ton price. Main’s Landscape Supply prints both for its pea pebble, which implies about 2,800 lb per yard. Compare quotes in one unit, using the weight the supplier bills by.

Why is pea gravel so much more expensive in some places?
Pea gravel is screened, rounded stone, and where it has to be trucked in from a distant source it costs more. The per-ton pea gravel prices here run from $39.99 in Denver to $210 for a Tennessee pea gravel sold in North Carolina. Crushed stone quarried locally is usually the cheaper option.
